Smelly Armpits, Family, Death and Life (as it is now)
My armpits are smelly. They stank to high heaven. I should shower now but not yet. A shower would signal my brain that its okay now, you can relax, probably sleep and things. Not now though. Let us ponder together the meaning of a part of smelly armpits. Why would the Creator put in that genetic code that sweaty armpits will, after certain duration will smell like rancid McDonald's tartar sauce? What is the purpose? Is it to teach us homo sapiens the need to wash our armpits everyday? Is it to plant the seed for the idea of perfumes and later on; deodorant? Fascinating stuff.. I will shower, but not now. Let me finish this post first.
Let me savour this feeling. That feeling of typing things up for fun. I got plenty of work related typing to be done but by God, i have neglected this blog for so long.
Anyway, there had been a death in the extended family. My uncle on my father's side passed away a few days ago. I was not particularly close to him but somehow his death made my heart skipped a beat. No kidding. I had other deaths but none rocked me like his did. My memories of him was of him either going or coming back from fishing, either from the small stream in front of the rumah kampung or from the river at the back of the rumah kampung. He left three children behind. Two of which was still studying. His wife passed away about a year ago. It was always the same pattern that i have observed. When the wife passed away, the husband almost always followed suit afterwards. Maybe death by broken heart is a real thing after all. My thoughts are now for the children now that i have two of my own. How would they cope now that all that they have are each other. Either you grow up or life will force you to grow up. Whether you like it or not for accepting, really accepting that your parents are not going to be around forever for me is the final lesson of growing up. That, and the fact that our parents are not gods and heroes and heroines we all like them to be.
When we were growing up our parents projected this image of strength and resilience. Ready to chew on hot coals and lift cars if need be. At least that was the case with me. Some children have deadbeat parent or parents, forcing them to grow up even faster than they should. Life man, sometimes it comes at you fast.
Anyway, chewing hot coals and lifting cars. Being starry-eyed young thing we were, we came to see that every single things our parents or parents did as cool and particularly awesome but then as we grow up that illusion slowly loses its lustre. As a youngster we might see our fathers smoking as something cool, macho and to be emulated but then as we grew up we learned to hate the acrid smell of burning paper and tobacco until finally when we are adults ourselves we learned that it was a dumb to inhale burning thing and it could give you cancer. The pedestal upon which we placed our parents slowly crumble, nibbled away by age and sickness as we grow older until finally we can finally see that our parents are just as scared and clueless about life like we are now (well, if you have absolute certainty of where your life is heading, i'd doff my hat to you if i have one.). They made bad choices every now and then and tried to live afterwards with the consequences. You know, just living..
Come to think of it, who had said that history is cyclical in nature is actually right. The times and the names of the players change but the story remains the same. We live, made choices, we die and so on it goes with subsequent generation until the end of time.
So when we finally accept that our parents are flawed just as we are and that they will eventually leave us to fend for ourselves, that they will no longer be around to hug us and soothe us whenever we graze a knee or something, that is the precise moment that we have truly ascended into adulthood. Until then, we are all just over-sized teenagers. All that stuff about getting a job, getting married and shit are just societal requirements imposed on us. Hogwash..Cowpat. Adulthood is about accepting that perfection is an illusion and mortality is a sure thing.
Fuck me, i am getting teary eyed as i typed up the above.
Most if not all parents have that fierce protective emotion for their child, the urge to beat the living daylights out of anybody who made our children cry for any reason. The name of that emotion is love. It is not the default setting in all parents but most parents have it. Love. In their own way and in their own words for no two parents are made in the same mould. They are the products of their times and upbringing, just as we are.
I lost the point i am trying to make and i am indeed teary eyed.
When i joined the solat jenazah of my uncle the image that kept flashing through my head was of my uncle as a younger man one day when he came back at sundown with his fishing rod in one hand and a tree branch full of fishes smaller than the palm of his hands in the other. That person is no more. One day its going to be my own father on that cold slab. One day its going to be me. Life is fleeting and time fucking flies (fuck you cicero).
I could not make it to the funeral on the account of the missus being left all alone at home with the kids and with a case in the next day but my dad went. The next day i called him and asked him about it and how he was (he made a trip up north that night and back home again before sunrise). The thing unsaid was how much i love him. I have always had that problem. Telling my father and mother my how much i love them. I don't rightly know why. Then again, i had the same problem with my siblings.Maybe i am a show don't tell kind of guy.
In case you are reading this, Mak and Abah. I love you guys to bits.
Now, i try to tell my sons and wife that i love them every chance i got. Death, like me, does not keep regular hours. I am not the perfect father or the perfect husband. I am flawed like the rest of us, like my father before me and his father before him. But i try to be better. Every single day. Like the unnamed protagonist of The Road, i try to carry the fire; to be a decent human being. I try to the best of my abilities to teach the boys, my boys to carry the fire. So that in this increasingly dark world that they may shine their own way through it one day. That is all i can hope. That is all we can hope with our children and i guess that was all our parents hope for us.

This is how we roll now
The Missus or should i say, the player is asleep. As it usually is, it signifies the end of a session.
Just now was the shortest session ever so far. I think it ran for about an hour. I did however, manage to cram a new side quest and a random encounter involving a semi-naked old man chasing down a tailor halfway across town. Apparently, the tailor pricked the old man's balls in a fitting session hence the chase with bloody underpants and swirling hoe. A roll of 16 and noble background averted combat. Resolution comes with ice on balls and alcohol for the aggrieved old man, still clad in his bloody underpants.
I have heard of Dungeons & Dragons before. I have watched the old animation series of it back when it was aired at Metrovision i think. (The now defunct channel 4.) However, i have never thought the day would come when i would immerse myself into the world of table top role playing game. To be more exact; Dungeons & Dragons.
It began when i re-read my bootleg .pdf copy of Dresden files series. One of the book (I can't remember which one) starts off with the titular Harry Dresden playing a role playing game with the Alphas (which was what the vigilante werewolves chose to call themselves), rolling dices, slinging out spells and swinging really sharp things at people and monsters.
Then, something in me clicked.
I was at one of the lowest point of my life. The black dog growls deepened and my shoulders sagged heavy with his weight. Money was really low back then and Number 2 was barely a week old. Day job felt like a dead end, my calling a dry spell after the last rejection. So it was only natural for a family man to worry about the money, especially when money was not forthcoming. There were some thoughts about ramming something with my car and be done with it but the thought of the kids kept it at bay. (Thank God for that). The kids however, did not keep the black dog from baring his fangs and trying to cow me into submission. Every day was a battle to keep him leashed. So when i read that opening part in Dresden Files, *click*. The dog ceased its barking in amazement.
I immediately did my own reading on the subject matter, starting on the most famous and as it was touted, the greatest role playing game ever: Dungeons & Dragons. I trawled the Net for reading materials, skimmed through Youtube tutorials (which was also how i found out about the live play show, Critical Role). In a short span of time , i had my own dice set, scoped out possible hangout place to link up with players, got my hands on the bootleg .pdf of the core rule books (which i mean to buy once i have the right amount of money. Content creators should be paid for their efforts!) and strong-armed the Missus into letting me run a homebrew campaign for her. It was around that time the Arsend Campaign began.
What of the dog then you ask? Well, i would like to believe that he cocked his head slightly in the beginning and sat down and wagged his tails as i spun yarns about a sheriff in western themed town in a make-believe world.
The money came in again, not as much as the years before but it came in nonetheless. We get by. I don't get self-destructive thoughts anymore. The black dog tries to flex his muscles from time to time but most of the time i get to batten him down with a simple line: i got to get prepared for the day when the boys will join me and the missus for a session. So i did. I wrote more contents be it Non-Player Character backstory or world building, dream up a wacky encounter or possible plot hooks. Anything, Man. Anything. I am not the best of Dungeon Master right now but i am getting there. Slowly. Also, the Missus is slowly sinking into the world which is good enough for me.
D&D got me dreaming up stuff again. Got me writing again. It made me sketch stuff again. Something i have not done in ages. Mostly maps and layouts of locations and dungeons, for now. Maybe i will start on living things next, people and monsters and animals. D&D also made me happy, which is a big deal for me because the continuous battle to make ends meet and to keep the family and the firm afloat and to keep myself sane at the same time is numbing. I think the Missus can see that even if she does not speak a word of it.
So whenever the boys are asleep and we are not too tired, i would ask her; would like to roll the dice tonight?
So this is how we roll now.

Omnissiah is a fat dude sitting in a lazyboy with the remote in one hand and (root) beer in another
God damn it all to hell. Write damn you, write. Enough excuses. All these tech toys ate into your soul. Poisons the imagination. Toil. Work. Hustle. Suffer. Burn your hands. Poke your eyes out. Melt your brains. Just do something damn you. Smoke your pipe. Pour coffee down your nostrils. Squeeze lemon in your eyes. Suffer. Pee fire. Shit bricks.
Set the cat on fire. Trim the lawn with scissors. Just get off your ass and create something. Drag it out kicking and screaming out of his hidey-hole. Sock him in the nads. Hand him a pen and paper. Tell him- go to work. Shut him in a windowless room, with only a table, a chair and a table lamp for company. Leave him gibbering mad, cold to the bones for the brightest of suns, the warmest of colours is in the head. Let the juice flow. Let it burn. Something. Anything. For fuck's sake. Live. Let the day end with something. Anything.

Old
Currently i am sitting at the 30th floor of a hotel built in 1982, sipping coffee and smoking my nuts off.
The missus and boy are downstairs. Asleep. Both tired of their day's exertion. Me, i could not sleep. I have a lot on my mind right now.Hence the coffee, and smoking.
On Tuesday, we said goodbye to the office. Handed over the keys to the landlord. Saddens both me and the missus but it had to be done. Made no sense to spend on a space occassionally used. It was more of a man cave than an office to me.
On Saturday we sold most of our office furniture to a fellow lawyer. We kept only a small file rack, the meeting table, 3 folding chairs, 2 small coffee table and a shoe rack.
The firm made its first tactical retreat in 3 years. Still it had to be done. Sometimes i wonder what would the Fil would say had he still be around.
On Sunday the week before, the boy turned 1. Had a small gathering of family and friends, ate cake, murdered lamb (in curry form and roasted) and lived on leftovers the next few days(at least i did). The missus and i felt what all parent felt (i think): time flew away to fast. From a helpless poop and fart machine the boy grew in short time into a strapping young lad who is about to get his feet in a few weeks time.
Two days ago i received news that an aunt on my father's side passed away. I had just met her and my uncle at a family event barely a month ago. She was by all apperances, healthy.
So now, i sit on the 30th floor, sipping coffee and smoking, taking it all in. That feeling that life is fleeting

The Laughing Heart
The Laughing Heart
your life is your life
don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission.
be on the watch.
there are ways out.
there is light somewhere.
it may not be much light but
it beats the darkness.
be on the watch.
the gods will offer you chances.
know them.
take them.
you can’t beat death but
you can beat death in life, sometimes.
and the more often you learn to do it,
the more light there will be.
your life is your life.
know it while you have it.
you are marvelous
the gods wait to delight
in you.

Wattpad suggested to me one direction fanfics and other related things. Gila.
I am all for writing on what you love and know but some things should forever remain in your hard drive or even better, in your head.
Just came back from a meeting. Drove home while listening to Bukowski reading his stuff. I wonder why a drunk reliving his drunken existence/ observation can be so engaging.
My exposure to poetry is limited to what they ram down your throat in school and the Shakespeare i know is limited to the line : to be or not to be (because i often ask my self that). I dont understand all the fuss over Lang Leav. I failed to see the beauty of two lines saying how sexy an ovary can be. Simply said, i have no fine appreciation for poetry. A philistine. An uncultured hick but God help me. I think i kinda like Bukowski.
Can you get drunk on green tea?

How Few Remain
Just got back from work. Thought of what had happened to this blog. Skimmed through list of followed blogs. Most are infested with..bots?, taken over, deleted, mutated, migrated or just plain gone. Only a tiny few remain. It saddens me. It has been a while after all.
Oh cicero, i hate it when you are right.
This blog has seen me through lawschool, singlehood, married-hood and now, abah-hood. Barring a worldwide catastrophe in which all electronics are rendered no better than bricks, or me having a quarter life crisis and decided to (foolishly) delete this blog, i hope blogger servers keep this one running and archived, hopefully..
Unless the machines rose first.

I Ate the Sun. Now shitting comets and other fiery celestial bodies/thing/stuff. (or maybe its the coffee talking)
Lets go back to the day when i met the Masters (circa few days ago). The De Jure Master asked about my 'other' calling. I told him. Got burned twice now. Then he told me this (more or less); as is law so is the other calling. Lose enough cases and you will inevitably win some (unless. unless, you are truly a moronic piece of turd to not have learned anything from the previous losses). Heard and/or read many variations of it before. But, this, coming from a highly respected individual to me gave that shot in the arm i need.
I lost count how many fleshing out of ideas, paragraphs and such that i lost with my old S3. Not that i lost the phone. It was the device itself, the memory card (which i suspect to be faulty) which sent me countless signals of its intention to retire from active service. Ideas, lost. Probably forever. Had it not been for the Missus, i probably would have curled up into fetal position and wept.
I am a forgetful person. Back when i was still using a dumb phone, i used to walk around with a small notebook in my back pocket. I jot down almost everything but mostly ideas. Ideas which later in the late evening, whenever i am free (which was almost all the time), magic hour. Just me and the keyboard. The feat which i am keen to repeat now, albeit in a new different set of circumstances (wife, boy and business). God, i miss those days.

Beans, dreams and stuff
I am having a bad case of the shits. Could be the enchilada, could be the beans or it could even be the donuts i downed on my way back from Kuantan. One heck of a way to celebrate.
Won my case in Kuantan, partially. Until final bills are paid all wins are incomplete. Got to think of a trophy wall of sorts.
I am attempting minimalistic writing. Discovered that time travel is possible just now when was drafting/compiling documents for cause paper for Industrial Court. Tired, like a worn out tire. Ready to be recycled into sandals. One scene came to mind, some years ago was asked during interview: dream job or work life balance? Answered work life balance. Didn't get the job. Boring desk job anyway. Probably wont give stuff to write about.
Got together with mentors from old pupillage firm. About four days ago. De Jure Master and De Facto included. Talked shop. Exchanged professional complaints. Asked for free legal advice. Kept talking in low voice and looking over to me when talking politics, as if i am of questonable loyalties. Told them am a card carrying member of PSM. Shut them up good. Let them make out the meaning of it if they will. Not sure if PSM has membership cards. Not going to join PSM. Not sure will join. Not until that Khalid guy leave for Iran or get himself shot in the balls.
Political affiliation difficult to explain. Wish could pull a one liner like H. Bogart in Casablanca. Nationality? I'm a drunkard. Not a drinker. But, something like that. Too ill disciplined to toe party lines. Too lazy to entertain neo feudal lords.
Got tons to do tomorrow but still not sleeping. Too stressed to sleep. Probably need sleeping pills, or something. Hope wont spawn a Tyler in my head. Life is weird as it is. Already planning to blow up banks and corporation (metaphorically).
Probably should sleep now. Correction. Must sleep now. Hell can come collect tomorrow morning. If boy didnt wake me up first.

Do you carry the fire?
Thought shot faster than my fingers are able to type them. Thoughts, multiple strands of them, often unrelated to one another found themselves intertwined with one another and again faster than my poor fingers can ever keep up with. The price to pay for living in this day and age. I wonder how it will be for the Son later on. Micro milli parsecs, faster than thought flight. Will our physiology be able to keep up? Will our muscles, our limbs then athrophy for want of use? Might we be then just mere head in a jar with shriveled body? Homo Craniumus? My God, the possibilities are never ending. Then there are also the possibility of a planet-wide catastrophy, global pandemic, nuclear holocaust, accidental black hole at CERN, or whatever. Mankind have excellent record of shooting itself in the foot.
Forgive me. Forgive me.
The arrival of the Son some two months ago amped up the paranoia in me. The slightest negative progression of events be it local or world in scope warrants a nervous reaction in me. Brexit, Daesh, Donald fuckin Trump or whatever. All i see the need to be prepared for the worse. The primeval instinct in me now switched on and it said this: Protect the tribe. The female and the offspring must survive. I now truly know the meaning of the heart skipping a beat. I worry. I worry far too much. Over too many things.
Happy, of course i am happy. God willing i have a boy who i hope will grow up to be a better person than in i am now or ever will be. Someone to carry on the blood and legacy of my ancestors and someone i pray, to be the one who would keep my grave perpetually lit when all else is dark.
God knows the things i want to teach him, all that i know, to show, to discover together. All the hopes of the world, all the optimism and all that is good and well in the world lies inside a farting/perpetually pooping little guy. There was this scene that Cormac Mccarthy wrote in The Road. When the Man had died on the beach and the Son asked the man who had been following them, do you carry the fire? I wish that for the Son, for my son. To carry the fire, to be the light in an increasingly dark world, to know compassion when none are shown, to know the meaning of honour and to strive to live with it always.
Carry the fire my son.
So much hope in so small a package. May you be a better Man than i am or ever will be.
Sleep now my son. Tomorrow is another day, another nappy change, another bath, another feeding, another bout of hiccups. Loads and loads of things for you, and me to learn fromand adventures to be had.
Sleep well, my son.
Forgive me. Forgive me.

Kill The Bird.
Years from now, i will look back at this post and wonder what the hell i was thinking. What the hell made me do it. What the hell made me delete my twitter account?
It is a rhetorical question. The answer lies in the question itself. What the hell was i doing on twitter in the first place? A question for an answer, there you go. It was but a phase. A game. We all play it. 140 words to kill. Go. Fit a joke or bitch about your luxuriously boring life or come up with a witty line over a local issue or football or whatever. Time starts now. Used to be i waited for days just to come up with a pithy or witty line to share with my almost none-existent followers. And this is in the day where information flows faster than thought.
I got bored of the game. It bored me because i became dependent on it. I stopped writing long rambling stuff as i slowly became addicted to the speed of the replies the likes and what-have you. I was addicted to it, like nicotine, like sugar, like whatever the hell floats your boat in a shitty day.
One can only maintain a number of addictions at any given time and so ruthlessly i nipped the addiction in the bud, long before it becomes cancerous. I knew that to be published, to be remembered i had to write at least 10,000 words a day and 10,000 attempts at a tweet does not count as writing. Twitter is cancerous to my writing muscle, at least it was for me.
Do i miss it now? i certainly did, like i will miss nicotine when i finally gave up my pipe or like i will miss sugary stuff when i finally go on a diet. Relapse? God help me, i hope not.
Sometimes a line a word which i think to be brilliant my first reaction would be to say to myself; that is tweet-worthy or , i should tweet that. But then i would catch myself midstream and to remind myself that my twitter account is dead and give the silly blue bird the finger.
I would then type it instead in my battered old Samsung S3 whose S Notes notes have the tendency to go missing even after i saved it a few time after which i would go berserk and after a few minutes, resign to the fact that brilliant line or word is now lost eternally to the Void .
Now, after the death of the bluebird, i find my days to be longer and more meaningful. Conversations, i mean good old fashioned conversations became an enjoyment for me albeit my introverted disposition. The lines? the witty and pithy lines? Now, i reserve them for good old fashioned conversations with friends.
Death of the bluebird is a relief for me. Its like taking a long satisfying dump after holding it in for hours. Go on. Try it now. Kill your Twitter. It will liberate you.

your train is delayed, again.
Currently i am functioning at half of my full mental capacity. The funtioning half kept running by the combined effect of nicotine and caffeine (Ah blessed caffeine!). The non functioning half succumbed to sleep thus impairing my thought processes. Like when you board KTM commuter train, certain parts of the journey will be marked with sudden loss of power before the train powers back on again. Like that, my train of thoughts constantly slowed down when it passes through the sleeping part of my mental rail, or so it goes. The reason me still awake at this hour being an urgent striking out application which i had just remembered this morning ( this morning being Tuesday morning). It was due only on Thursday morning but one of the virtues of having clients you have difficulty of meeting is that chances are, come Thursday morning, his signature would still not be on the affidavit. i am talking legal gobledegook. I know. I probably should get some sleep, to maximise .. i forgot what i was about to say. Signing the affidavit, then theres the affirming to be done after the signing. Sometimes it made me wonder for the absurdity of having all these sworn statements. Its not as if the Commisioner of Oath even know whatever that was written is the truth and nothing but the truth. If the bugger wants to lie and lie he or she will, be it in writing or orally so help me God. Hell, chances are the poor Commissioner doesnt even know what he is actually stamping as the truth. Then again, what is the truth? Truth is Sleep is in negotiation with the still awake half of my brain for an instrument of surrender. I have fought honourably beyond all expectations, i may march out with my colours intact, fully armed with my honour untarnished. I have fought the good fight, its time to sleep now and fight again come tomorrow said Sleep. In a minute. Dear me. I have not updated this blog for some time now. Busy busy as bees trying to survive. Always feeding that queen Bill& Debt. Surely there is more to life than that. Theres sleep. And theres the srnse of accomplishment of a job well done. There is also what we call the ungrateful clients. Its a thankless job this is. You either a liar and a cheat or you are a cheat or a charlatan. All of a feather. Quack or cluck or whatever. Made me think why Shakespearehated lawyers so much. He probably got served with Judgement. Thou art served you little shit. Its a wonder i can still type all this up with half of my mind asleep. The analytical part is totally asleep so legal drafting is hopelessly out of the question. Creative side however, is having a field day. O blessed caffeine. I guess this is the state they call in between waking and sleeping. Perhaps we can call it waleeping. Or whatever. The state perfect for what writers call....ah.. shit i cant remember...something writing. Stream of consciousness writing. Thats it. There will be Hell to pay tomorrow. Oh yes. There will be Hell to pay tomorrow. Ok Sleep, where do i sign?

Tentang Masa
Just learned that another of my close acquaintance is now pregnant. Ah, time, how an envious bitch you are. You flew like banshee without us noticing. How we used to be law students marveling at the complexities of the man made law, so innocent, so naive and now here we are, lawyers all, someone's husband or wife, and now, someone's mother or father.
Fuck you Cicero. Fuck you very much.
Fuck you Cicero. Fuck you very much.

Your Words Against Mine
Never promise what you cannot deliver
Codified but not practiced
Should be a credo for all lawyers
A man's promise binds upon his honour (if he has one)
A lawyer's word is a noose around his neck
You''ll never know who the hangman is
Or when the time is
So be careful my fellow practitioners
For they often say that lawyers screw people (or clients)
But rarely they say of lawyers screwed,
by their own promise

Tentang Bangang
Kebangangan penduduk Malaysia ni dah mencapai tahap membimbangkan. Kebangangan penduduk Malaysia ni (note the usage of penduduk instead of rakyat) sudah mencapai tahap critical mass.
Kalah Maharaja lawak kadang-kadang bangangnya.
Pertama sekali ingin aku bincangkan tentang kebangangan pengguna jalan raya Malaysia. Ini perkara asas ya, mind you.
A simple experiment will do.
On a side note, cuba tengok Inherit the Wind. cerita hitam-putih amerika yang menarik pasal beruk.
The only way to combat idiocy is to force them to think.
Idiots die in great numbers but they kill even more with their idiocity

Half Mast
The King is Dead, Long Live the King.
Today HRH Sultan Azlan Shah passed away. He was by far the only Sultan who was a lawyer, a judge and a Ruler of his state.
Not one of his loyal subject, i do not have the privilege to talk of his characteristics as a Ruler of his home state.
As a lawyer however, i do have the privilege of talking of his contribution to the legal profession. His judgments was a mandatory read for our Constitutional Law classes.
I can no longer recall exactly the name of cases in which his judgments were in nor can i recall what the judgments were about but i believe it was in the realm of consitutional law and administrative law. Man, those were the days i struggled to read cases.
There are judgments which are thick with legalese which would make a first semester law student cry out in exasperation and there are judgment which are clear, concise and made for an enjoyable read. His was in the latter catergory. Only after i have left law school i am able to appreciate the genius of his judgments.
After some digging up i came up with a case with familiar name, Pengarah Tanah & Galian v Sri Lempah in which he held the following:
"Unfettered discretion is a contradiction in terms.....Every legal power must have legal limits, otherwise there is a dictatorship.... "
However, there was the issue of the 2009 Constitutional Crisis.
Depending on which side of the political divide you subscribe to, his decision as the Sultan of Perak regarding the 2009 constitutional crisis was either a) an ill advised decision ultra-vires the state constitution b) in line with democratic practice and allowed by the state constitution.
Proff Shad Saleem Faruqi i read somewhere yesterday said that the Sultan acted in accordance to his discretionary powers and within the ambit of democracy which is to to invite the party with the majority in the house to form a new government. His (Proff Shad's) original position was that the Sultan was ill-advised in calling the BN to form a new state government.
Regardless of your interpretation of the 2009 Constitutional Crisis, a man, be it a commoner or of royal blood is the sum of all his parts. His Royal Highness was in my view, remains an example of an enlightened Monarch and should and must be the model to all Malay Rulers.
Long Live.

Tentang Uitm, Pilihan, dan Haluan Hidup
Aku terus terang muak bilakan dengar nama Dyana Soya. Jangan salah faham, aku bukan hardcore pro-gomen. Far from it. Aku muak sebab nama Dyana Sofya itu tiap harinya menyemakkan proses bacaan online harian aku. Terfikir jugak aku untuk mengofflinekan diri buat sementara waktu. Wait it out until all this hubub over Teluk Intan to die down. But,nah..kemudian kemudian kot.
Yang teras keras UMNO tanpa berlengah lagi melabelkan si minah ni pengkhianat, tak berterima kasih dan lain-lain stopping short of unsheathing kerises and calling for blood.
Kemudian, fellow writer for KL Noir : White, Jimie Cheng pulak membalas balik artikel tadi dengan artikel dia pulak yang aku kira memang betul dan bila aku tengok halaman komen, penuh dengan komen citizen US of A celop. Aku kira yang komen ni semua subscribers of embed journalism.
Katanya senior aku tapi memang aku tak kenal. Aku mana campur dengan orang. Aku nerd and proud of it. Kebebasan untuk memilih ni, atau freedom of choice itu datang dengan kaveat, good or bad, you live with the consequences of your choice.
The tricky part is where you chose not to follow the officially sanctioned ideology wherein the institution you came from is the result of a policy of the government which comprised of, the officially sanctioned ideology.
Jadi macam mana ni?
Macam mana lagi. Who you are and who you chose to support is your personal business. Titik noktah!
Its like saying when you are an African American you automatically have the unnatural lust for watermelons.
True story. Google it.
Anyway,. Berterima kasih tu tak bermaksud kau kena jadi boble head dashboard dan apa gomen cakap dan buat kau telan aja dan angguk. Mungkin ada yang rasa macam tu, lantak ko lah, like i said, its personal choice. Berterima kasih tu boleh datang dengan banyak cara, kau boleh enroll jadi pensyarah dan ajar student-student baru, kau boleh entah lah, banyak cara kau nak give back to your alma mater, bagi makan student miskin pun boleh jugak sebab sistem dewan makan pun dah kena mansuh, jadi speaker kat program-program Uitm ke, ape ke. Pandai-pandai la ko fikir sendiri. Yang penting banyak cara nak tunjuk terima kasih ni.
Bagi aku sangat berterima kasih kepada Uitm sebab memberikan aku peluang untuk meluaskan lagi pemikiran aku (au contraire to the commonly accepted belief that budak Uitm semua jumud, limited world view dan bongok) dengan pengajian undang-undang dan telah memberikan aku the greatest gift of all, the ability to really think and say aloud (or rather, to write on what i think). So the best way to show my gratitude is to use that gift. Betul tak? Bukan kah itu the whole point of going to law school or whatever school for that matter. To learn to think and to apply that thinking in real life situation. Jadi dengan sebab di atas, isu biting the hand that feeds you tak sepatutnya timbul.
Ini pendapat aku lah, tak setuju takpe, hak masing-masing. Agree to disagree.
Habis cerita sapa kau nak undi atau apa ideologi kau dan freedom of choice.
Keduanya,
English ke laut lah, tak geti buat kerja lah, softskills takde lah, tak menyerlah masa interview lah.
What happens after your graduation is not and should not be attributable to the Uni. Kau graduan, bukan suduan. Kalau tau lemah English, improve, baca surat khabar omputih, tengok movie dengan subtitle, dengar pronounciation depa cemana (American English ke British English ke, they both say fuck the same way so same goes for most things) dengar BBC radio, tau social skills lemah, socialize, benda benda ini semua sepatutnya belajar sendiri tapi Uitm punya lah nak bagi added value kat graduan dia siap buat Latihan Dalam Kumpulan nak ajar cemana nak buat resume lah, cemana nak handle interviews, cemana nak carry yourself in a working environment, build your confidence and shit, habis weekend aku. Tapi kalau graduan sendiri yang acuh tak acuh je, buat sambil lewa, semua nak bersuap salah depa sendiri lah. In this day and age, there is no excuse to be ignorant and stagnant. No excuse at all. Facebook kau pandai guna, Youtube kau geti guna tapi bila nak google benda self-improvement kau malas. Bila tak dapat kerja bukan salah Uitm, salah kau sendiri, kau sendiri pilih untuk jadi mediocre. Kau sendiri pilih untuk jadi sampah. Padan muka kau.
Tapi bila orang kata semua produk Uitm ni langsung tak berkualiti, aku marah. Sebab ianya sangat lah tidak benar. Aku takkan list down kan alumni fakulti aku yang famous famous sebab itu semua in the long run immaterial, kita masuk universiti pun bukan sebab nak popular. Nak popular join DAP pastu bertanding jadi calon. Takpun join Akademi Fantasia. Alumni yang famous-famous ini immaterial in the long run kata aku sebab tujuan utama Uitm ditubuhkan adalah untuk mengimbangkan kembali ketidakseimbangan ekonomi, nak meramaikan lagi golongan usahawan dan professional Bumiputera dan Melayu ni. In that regard aku rasa misi Uitm tu sedikit sebanyak berjaya sebab ramai je senior dan dari kalangan kawan-kawan aku sendiri yang bukak firma guaman sendiri and doing great. Booming business.
Called to the Bar and running their own business, Itu bukan kualiti ke?
The fact that some of us had the guts to go out there and open up legal firms shows that if given the chance, some of us would truly use that chance to improve ourselves and people around us.
Yes i agree. I agree with the argument that with the quantity of graduates Uitm churn out per year the quality will without doubt suffer. Dari segi ini aku memang akui, Uitm overambitious dalam nak membantu mereka yang tak berpeluang, this is a subject for another discussion akan tetapi buat masa ini sekali lagi aku tegaskan, the job of the uni is to give you a recognized degree or diploma or whatever it is Juris Doctor or shit but as for the quality, you determine your own worth in the job market, your own quality is solely of your own doing. You reap what you sow.
Habis cerita graduan dan suduan.
Aku rasa, Uitm ni kena ada moto baru, To promote the pursuance of knowledge without fear or favour. Ala ala Bar Council motto gitu tapi bagi aku perlu. Bila si minah tu timbulkan isu anak kroni kaya raya dok dalam Uitm, there is some truth in it. Tapi boleh pulak tersesat some rich and titled into the system. Do us all a favour, don't come to Uitm only to repeat your paper sampai part 9.
In fact those who are in this bracket have my utmost respect. To be academically successful irrespective of your parent's titles and riches is indeed admirable. Dan golongan macam ni ada di Uitm. Cuma kebiasaanya kalau dah kaya ni selalunya malas. Itu lagi satu penyakit. Kaya itu bukan alasan untuk jadi bodoh because you have all the money for the best education money can buy.
Habis cerita golongan sesat.
Baguslah. Weed out the undeserving. Its not about convenience, its not about affordability, its about helping out those who need it the most.
That being said, am i agreeable to the idea of opening up Uitm to non-Malays? Of course, but only if the a unifying policy could be implemented to all universities and extended to all schools be it primary or secondary. If we have to start somewhere let us start at the very beginning, schools and kindergartens. One education system for all and help is to be given to all poors, irrespective of race or religion. If we are going to level the playing field let us level all the playing fields. Pecahkan tembok antara kita supaya tiada lagi Melayu, Cina, India dan lain-lain, hanya manusia.
So perlu kah Uitm berubah? Definitely but only and only if all of us is willing to change too. Kau tunding jari kata Uitm racist, there is another 4 fingers pointing back at you. Yang kau berbulu sangat kenapa? is it really about opening up Uitm for all atau sebenarnya tak suka the fact that thanks to Uitm there is a growing middle class of Bumis tilting back the previously unequal economic scale? Yes, the policy cannot and must not stand forever and yes, it is creating the Cocoon Mentality wherein the graduates simply do not see the need to mingle with peoples other than fellow Bumis. Most importantly, Yes, the gomen has not addressed the need for a policy to aid the poor non-Bumis as to balance out the affirmative action policy which created Uitm. Kau tengok balik Article 153 of the Federal Constitution:
Kalau kau takde legal background sekalipun a plain reading of the above provision simply means, adalah menjadi tugas Yang Di Pertuan Agong (YDPA) untuk memastikan kepentingan Melayu, Orang Asal Sabah Sarawak dan komuniti lain terjaga. Apa maksudnya tu? Maksudnya, kalau nak tolong Melayu dan Orang Asal Sabah Sarawak, tolong sekali yang Non-Bumis tu. Tanggungjawab raja ni berat, tapi oleh kerana kita ni pakai sistem raja berpelembagaan the King has a government to run the State in his name, in his name. So what ever the gomen does, good or bad it will reflect upon the YDPA.
Pilihan. Dah tau nak kerja, prepare lah diri. Jangan kau berani salahkan takdir bila kau takda pilihan dalam pekerjaan bilamana kau sendiri memilih untuk jadi sampah. Graduan Uitm pulak satu, bila dah diberi peluang, gunakan sebaik mungkin. Penghabisannya kena dismiss tak pun bila graduate cgpa tak mengikut piawaian kehendak kerja, menganggur. Its a privilege, not a right. Right have to be earned, just as much as respect is to be earned, not demanded.
But, after all this is said and done,
would i vote for Dyana Sofya should i be hypothetically be a native of Teluk Intan? Judging by the way she handled the media in person and how she carried herself so far on stage,... nope. I am not sure who threw the first shot regarding Uitm but your decision to beat the topic to death is tantamount to digging yourself deeper and deeper into a hole that you might not get out of. What ever happened to other issues? Or is it the thrust the only thrust of your campaign is on uitm? if that is indeed the case you are as much as a half baked politician in dire need for further tutelage from your sifu. You can have an army of speechwriter, hire an expert for your social media campaigning but at the end of the day it boils down to the ummph factor and you aint got much, missy. I prefer Nurul Izzah on any other day, seriously.
But, its her (Dyana's)choice run as a candidate. I might not agree with her but its her choice and it should not stop me from bashing her as others did for her choice. You made your bed, and now you oughtta sleep on it.
Dibawah adalah pendapat aku berdasarkan pengalaman aku sendiri:
Pertama sekali.
In Memoriam
I never got to read out aloud What is to Be Done to you
I never got to debate with you the differences and merits of Anarchism and Marxism
I never got to have you come to me at your own accord
I never got you to purr at me
Ever the rebel
Ever disdainful of the Neo Bourgeois
Ever spreading the Revolution to the neighbourhood
Ever our beloved cat
Farewell Comrade Lenin,
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.
I never got to debate with you the differences and merits of Anarchism and Marxism
I never got to have you come to me at your own accord
I never got you to purr at me
Ever the rebel
Ever disdainful of the Neo Bourgeois
Ever spreading the Revolution to the neighbourhood
Ever our beloved cat
Farewell Comrade Lenin,
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.
